Options to Personalise a Funeral in Tamworth
Here at Dormer Cottage Funeral Home in Tamworth, we work closely with the families we care for to create truly meaningful and personalised funeral for their loved ones. There are many options to choose from to create a truly individual funeral reflecting the life of the loved one you've sadly lost.
Burial or Cremation
Choosing a final resting place for your loved one is one of the first decisions you'll need to make.
When opting for a Burial you will have a permanent place to visit and pay respects to your loved one. When opting for a Cremation you can choose to keep your loved ones ashes at home, or alternatively bury / scatter them somewhere meaningful.
Choosing a venue
If you are holding a Funeral Ceremony for your loved one, you will need to choose an appropriate venue.
If your loved one is to be cremated you can hold the ceremony at the Crematorium Chapel. Similarly for burial,. cemeteries often have an on-site cemetery chapel. Alternative venues include churches, village halls, community centres, or even in the comfort of your own home.
Choosing a Coffin or Casket
From the most simple cardboard Coffin, to veneered and solid wood Coffins, to steel and bronze caskets, choosing a suitable final vessel for your loved one to rest in is an important decision to make.
When opting for Cremation most families opt for a Veneered Wood Coffin whereas with a Burial, many opt for Solid Wood or something more eco-friendly such as a Willow Coffin.
Visiting your loved one
If you decide you'd like to spend time with your loved one prior to their Funeral, you are welcomed to our Funeral Home where your loved one will be laid out in our beautiful Chapel of Rest.
Our Chapel of Rest overlooks our country courtyard garden featuring some beautiful wildlife and water features. In the summer the patio doors open and families can sit outside to gather their thoughts.
Ceremonial Vehicles
We provide a Chauffeur Driven Hearse to convey your loved one and any floral tributes to the Crematorium or Cemetery.
We also provide Chauffeur Driven Limousines to convey mourners to and from the Funeral Cememony.
We offer both Mercedes and Bentley fleets to suit.
Order of Service Booklets
We create beautiful bespoke order of service booklets featuring the running order of the ceremony, any photos you may wish to include, along with poems and tributes.
We can produce simple 4 page booklets but can also produce 8-16 page booklets to enable more content to be included. We can create a theme to reflect your loved ones interests and personality if you wish.
Floral Tributes
We offer a selection of beautiful floral tributes to suit the varying requirements of our clients.
Many families now opt for a floral spray on top of the Coffin as a tribute from everyone, rather than opting for individual floral arrangments.
We can provide bespoke tributes to meet your individual needs.
A Dove Release or a Bagpiper
A beautiful way to personalise a loved ones Funeral is to arrange for a dove release at the end of the ceremony. You can choose how many doves you'd like to be released and if you wish, each dove can be released by an individual mourner.
We can also arrange for a traditional Scottish Bagpiper to lead the Hearse to the Crematorium or Cemetery.
Burial or Scattering of the ashes
Following a Cremation you have the choice of what to do with your loved ones ashes.
Some families keep their loved ones ashes at Home whilst others arrange to lay them to rest by burial or scattering. Whilst permission is required before scattering, there are many beautiful places that ashes can be laid. to rest, for example at sea.
Headstones & Memorials
We work with an Independent Monumental Masons to offer a range of Headstones and Memorials.
Following a Burial we can help you to choose an appropriate memorial for your loved one. Should you already have a memorial in place, we can arrange for it to be removed and stored safely prior to burial, then re-fixed with a new inscription afterwards.
